Dumbledore is G-A-Y!! Jo, you are my new hero now...
Dumbledore is Gay!

Hello Jo,

Thank you for confirming this, Jo. Seriously. It WAS kind off OBVIOUS since you introduced him in the first book and when you talked about his friendship with Gillert, but I'll ignore that so I can plant a million kisses on your person. I'll also ignore your inability to understand those who are torn about Snape, or who actually love him, for having an actual GAY character in the Harry Potter series. No worries, I'll protect you from the torch carrying mean Christians and Catholics who will undoubtly find more reason to hate you and Harry.

All I can say is THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! And yes, Jo, there is going to be even MORE of an influx of fic, not that there wasn't already some. Now, Jo, please confirm that Albus Severus and Scorpius are also gay and get together. ;)

Love from a great fan,
Christina

I am still reeling and screaming and I can't stop smiling. God, what a day. I was feeling so low this past day and this is the first time Jo actually made my whole day with something she said. I KNEW NY was going to be even better than LA or NO. I had been pondering about sending JK a letter asking her about homosexuality in the Wizarding World and if any of the characters were gay. Never mind now, she answered it! Woot! I'm still wondering what the Wizarding World's stance on homosexuality is though. The same as the Muggle world, the complete opposite (good), worse than the Muggle World? Maybe I should still write that letter. Hmmm.

Dude, Ian McKellan! He should have been Dumbledore from the beginning in my opinion, either way. :D But Ian IS Dumbledore! Seriously!

Seeing your post, my first thought was, nah, can't be, that's probably some subtext in whatever Jo said. But she did actually say it! Wow. And she even mentioned fanfiction, ahahaha. :D *is filled with glee*

I know! When I saw the title at the leaky cauldron, my jaw dropped. I couldn't believe that a dream had come true. So I clicked on the link and whoa, it was REAL. Jeez, just, I was shaking and reeling and screaming, and just, whoa. I know there's some people who are not happy because it wasn't included in canon, but I don't think it really had any significance to the plot. We got hints in DH either way. Just, all I'm happy about is that she confirmed that there's an actual gay character, which doesn't make everyone straight in the Wizarding World, thank god.

You know, I was really wondering about that when book 7 detailed his growing attachment to Grindelwald and how handsome the guy was, etc. Naturally, though, we slashers always see subtext where there is none, so I figured it was just my imagination. THis is really a cool revelation. The first halfway decent remark she's made since book 7 came out. I hate to be a pessimist about it, but she'll probably just contradict herself later.

Btw, why so low lately? You ok?

Indeed. And I'm actually glad there's enough subtext to work with. It's actually everywhere, in all fandoms. People find what they want to find anywhere, that's how it goes. And yes, and it wasn't only the Albus/Gillert that caught my attention, what really caught my attention was Rita's article about Dumbledore and his "unnatural" relationship with Harry. Now that we know the truth, that articule actually makes much more sense. So I guess prejudices in the Muggle World concerning homosexuality and connecting that no pedophilia also exists in the Wizarding World. Jo really took a stab at the fundamentalist Christians and Catholics there, if you look at it carefully. It's kind of political, to me anyway.

And yes, the first decent thing she's said since the release of DH's. Which is why I'm so crushing on her right now, in a purely platonic way, lol.

And I'm going to be optimistic to your pessimism and say that she's going to stick with her answer. She has guts and doesn't really give a shit about "that" half of her religion. She is definetely a Gryffindor. :) All the power to her, I say!

And I was basically low because of a specific comment she said in New Orleans concerning Snape. If y ou read my previous post, I wrote it there. I'm still not sure if she meant him dying or something else altogether or if she was just joking. The woman is hard to understand sometimes. She has a wacky sense of humour. lol. That and because my little Chihuahua is sick, my poor honey! Can't breathe, the dear, has a lot of mucus. And there's not enough money to get her treated, so I'm saving, but I have to continually see her suffer. At least the Vicks Vapor Rub helps her a little.

So how have you been? :)

Oh wow, I had forgotten about that. Yes, hmmm...............Interesting. I feel like I should go back and read ALL 7 books now, to see if there were any other clues. And yes, about Snape, I mostly ignore what Jo says most of the time because she DOES contradict herself and sometimes says things that make me wonder if she ever even READ HER OWN BOOKS! So, I'm so done with her comments regarding Snape!

Sorry to hear about your pooch. I have a chihuahua, too!

So how have you been? :) Well I'm pretty busy. I got that job I was after. Still having a bit of a family crisis with my grandmother. And lots of teenagers to deal with lately because of celebrating daughter's birthday. I'm still hoping to do Something Completely New(Harry) for you. I've got a few ideas. Don't want you to think I forgot about you.

I know there's quite a few subtle clues that Harry had a crush on Tom Riddle in HBP. lol. If you read that one carefully. I'm not the only one who saw that, I don't think. But I'm sure that one's just us slashers, and it's not based on fact. Too bad.

Jo contradicts herself, yes. She likes Snape in Los Angeles, thinks de "deserved it" in New Orleans, and keeps on going with that tone of thought in NY. I dunno, the woman is a collage of contradictions.

You have a Chi too? Awww! :D

I'm glad to hear you got the job you were after. :) And yikes, a party filled with hormonal teens! Good luck with that! And I'm happy to hear you're brainstorming in concerns to the Harry art. I'm thinking of asking Reallycorking if I can use a few of her Harry gen fanarts for Harry slash, and you can just draw a sexy Harry for me for Harry adult. ;) Or two Harries, lol, nah, just joking with you. One is enough. :)
