First/Second Generation Family Tree by Jk Rowling...interesting facts
No one's talked about this on my flist, I don't think, so I thought of talking about it. I'm not sure if any of you know, but a family tree of some of the main characters has been posted at jkrowling.com, behind the door in the secret room. I have to comment on a few things about it, alas. lol! ;)

First off, I love the names Luna and her husband gave to their two children. lol! Second, James Jr's middle name is Sirius. Lol! I knew Harry wasn't going to forget about his godfather. Not only that, but my James/Sirius shipper in me...sees that. LOL! Third, I had no idea Bill and Fleur had three kids! I thought they only had one. :/ And, the fourth, I think JK just confirmed that Charlie may just be gay, to me anyway. I don't know if it's me, but I think it confirms it, basically due to the fact that JK has this habit of making all straight characters get married and procreate. And guess what? Charlie is the only living Weasley who hasn't had kids. And isn't married. Sure, he could be straight, but...I don't think so. ;)

Oh, and happy belated New Years and Christmas. lol!

Edit to add: Okay, so I finally got to watch the video where she was drawing the family tree. Thanks to Cork for confirming what Jo said. I can't say I agree with her one that, and I think I may be looking a lot into it, but I think he IS, but she's afraid of saying it. I could see it in her expression. She paused before she answered, confirmed Dumbledore's gayness, paused again...said she didn't think Charlie was gay (when asked the question). Hmmm, I think someone is actually quite scared now to reveal all the facts. But don't take my word for it. I just think...with the reaction she got with Dumbledore (not at Carniege Hall), but in other places...I think she decided not to add more fuel to the fire.

Then again, she may never have really thought about Charlie's love life, so she really had to think when asked if he was gay or not. *shrug*

While it's true that yes, most of the straight characters in HP are baby factories, I think she said that Charlie isn't gay. Did you watch the documentary she did (the reason she drew this, actually)? The interviewer asked if Charlie was gay while she was drawing the tree, and she said something like "Dumbledore is gay...but I never thought of Charlie as gay, he's just more interested in dragons than women." Or something like that. XD

But dude, Luna's boys' names are SO Luna-ish. I love it. :D

Hee, happy new year!

I've been trying to view it, but for some reason the page won't load (at The Leaky Cauldron). :( I may have to go and hunt for it at Youtube if it's there or wait a few more days until the server at LC isn't so loaded or what not. But anyway, thanks for pointing that out to me! I had no idea!

Hehe, I find it funny that the interviewer asked that, as he/she saw the same thing! But I am disappointed! I so wanted to see a gay Weasley! And Charlie had seemed the perfect one. Still, we do have fandom! lol

(*tries not to think of Charlie and his interest in dragons* *whistles innocently* ;))

I think you're so right about Charlie! That's the first thing I thought when I saw his name there, all by its lonesome.

You know, I saw some posting about this about a week ago, and people were very upset, that she'd, oh, I don't know, meddle in HER UNIVERSE again. Srsly, is it just me, or are some folks forgetting a few minor details...like what's in those pesky disclaimers they always post?! Anyway, I loved Luna's kids' names too!

I had been SO sure too! But Cork just confirmed he's not, darnit! XD

I think right now the thing that may incense me is if she gave information on the lives of the second generation, like what house Albus Severus is in. Or has she already said what house he and co are in and any other details? Oh god, I hope she hasn't. I really rather not know, really. She should leave the characters to fandom, in my opinion. lol!

I tuned her out long ago, when she insisted that Snape was a horrible person and why in the world would anyone think he'd have a love interest?

Considering what she did with him in Book 7, she's just as confused as the rest of the world thinks we are. :) Just sing, "La la la can't hear you" very loudly, and write away!

i think thats why stuff like this isnt all over th flists. most people here just don't care about the details of the baby-factories, or they know they'd care (in a want to tear out their hair sort of way) and thus do their best to avoid it.

I have to admit, I am interested in some of the second generation characters, especially Albus Severus. But as to their futures? I rather never know officially. Because that's a realm where me as a fan, and anyone else, can think what they want and come to their own conclusions.

I think if she wants to tell us what happens to albus severus or whoever- write another book. then its canon at least. and people who are still interested in her writing, will fork over the money. the rest of us (like me, who don't care) will just go on ignoring it, like so many have ignored sirius' death or the epilogue, etc. doesn't hurt my enjoyment of writing/reading fic!

I know I would pay money if she wrote a second generation book, and I know I wouldn't agree with many things, but that's the way of life. lol.

But oh yeah, I have very selective memory. *nods* Some things just never happened in my memory. ;)

:) i'm sure you aren't in any minority!

i couldn't though. i haven't bought book 7 or bought/went to any of the films since #4. soon as bug grows tired of them, i'll probably throw even those away.

Dude, if you're still writing HP fanfic and writing more on the Bittersweet Potion Series...yeah, I just hope that bug doesn't grow tired. Cause if it does I may have to give it electric shock therapy or something, like dancing naked in front of it, or something. LOL!

not of writing! i meant tired of having the books/movies. they really only use thebooks for referce, and we use it less and less now, and we haven't seen the movies for ages. I'd rather have them out of the house, they make me feel icky.

I knew you meant the movies/books. I was just trying to say that I didn't care, that I was just glad you were still writing the series. Because I know there's some writers out there that get tired of the books and movies and just stop writing fanfic altogether as well. That you and Dent haven't, SO many kudos to you.

Although, you should seriously check out the Snarry scenes in Order of the Phoenix, if you haven't already and if you want, of course. Ugh, to die for! ;)

It seems like this is so. For myself, if it's not in the books, it's not canon to me. Not that I don't respect JKR's decision to do whatever she wants with her characters, but it gets too confusing and complicated (and sometimes contradictory) trying to track down all the things she's said, and tossed off remarks just don't cut it for me. After all, as fanficcers, what do we care what she thinks about sexual orientation? :-) And "I never thought of him as gay" is hardly a stinging rebuttal. Maybe she just never thought about it, and he is! (Or he's having scary dragon!sex)

Exactly what I was thinking and I edited the post to reflect that (about her probably never thinking of Charlie's love life). And oh god, don't remind me of the dragon!sex! lol. I innocently implied that to Cork, *g*

For some reason, when she said she didn't think Charlie was gay (she said think, not that she never saw him as gay), I could see him as bisexual, lol! God, I am lunny. I should seriously give it a break with characters love lives. XD

Well, I do care about what she says, but not as a fanficcer (just in a sense of, what does what she put in her books, and what she says in interviews teach people, esp younger readers? that's when I want to tear my hair out!). As a fanficcer- i gave up partway through book 5. For my own sanity, I try to remember to look at jkr-related headlines as a ficcer (iow, not interested, skimming past, instead of clicking and getting pissed off)

And lol for scary dragon!sex (Someone recommended Temeraire to me, and unfortunately, I doubt i will ever find any fic to read as I can only seem to pair up dragons/dragons, and people/dragons!)

The size difference would be the main problem with dragon!sex. Although ... a weredragon would at least be more or less the same size as a man, so the sex would be less likely to result in crushage ... :-)

yes, but we have MAGIC, i'm sure they could manage a shrinking spell or potion in hp (and for temeraire, there was some story about magical pearl that would change a human to a dragon so, shapeshifting). And I hadn't thought of a weredragon- so there's another option. :)

See, all these possibilities, aso where are the fics!?

Yeah, I usually try not to pay attention to what she says about Snape. Anything else is fine, but with Snape...yeah, I keep away.

I'm with [info]alchemia. Rowling has contradicted herself so many times that her interviews are no more valid than any other fan's opinion.

THAT I agree with. I've kept up with her interviews. In Los Angeles, she said she liked Snape, but sometimes felt like she wanted to slap him (and who doesn't?), but then in other interviews, she said some contradictory statements. Thus, I don't pay attention to her Snape comments. Obviously, she doesn't get the hype surrounding him, and that's fine. A lot of fandom, much of it, doesn't either.
